Shorebirds Dance Team Returns for Third Season

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to launch the third season of the Delmarva Shorebirds Dance Team, in partnership with High Voltage All Stars. Registration is now open for boys and girls ages six through 18. The Shorebirds Dance Team is set up as a non-competitive team that performs six times throughout the summer during Shorebirds games at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds Dance Team will undergo weekly technique and choreography lessons at High Voltage in preparation for six performances. The team will be separated into two teams based on age and prior dance experience. However, no dance experience is required to sign up for the team.

The Senior Team (ages 10 and older) will have practice on Saturday mornings from 10:30-11:30am while the Junior Team (ages 9 and younger) will follow from 11:30-12:30pm. Practices will begin in late March.

Interested dancers can also register in person at High Voltage (1303 South Salisbury Blvd, Suite D) on Friday, February 15 from 6:00-7:00pm, Monday, February 18 from 6:00-8:00pm or Monday, February 25 from 6:00-8:00pm. Shorebirds Dance Team representatives and coaches will be on hand to answer questions and meet interested dancers. High Voltage is directly across from Salisbury University between Hardee's and McDonald's on route 13.

"The Shorebirds Dance Team is a perfect program for kids that love to dance and have fun on the Eastern Shore," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. "What kid wouldn't love to perform in front of thousands of fans and have a blast while doing so -

Each dancer will receive a custom designed uniform, practice gear, two free Shorebirds tickets to each performance, a VIP parking pass, countless hours of instruction at High Voltage and a chance to perform in front of large crowds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

"The Delmarva Shorebirds Dance Team is a great community program and it fits right in line with everything we do at HVA," said Justine Lathbury, co-owner of High Voltage All Stars. "We look forward to working with each and every child in the program to make sure that he or she has a great experience while learning some new dance routines."

Dance lessons and choreography will be taught by an experienced instructor. Brittney Marshall will serve as the dance team coach for a third straight season. Marshall's dance experience includes ballet, Bennett's Rock and Roll Revival, and a scholarship in field show dancing in college. Sabrina Brown, a former Shorebirds Dance Team member, will assist Brittney in organizing the team and teaching the choreography. She has been a cheerleader for 13 years and has been choreographing routines for five years. She has received numerous awards and trophies and the judge's WOW award for her choreography.

The Shorebirds Dance Team will perform on the following dates at Perdue Stadium: June 1, June 8, June 22, July 6, July 20 and August 17. The dancers will perform pre-game, in-game and/or postgame. Dancers will also have the chance to participate during in-game promotions, stadium dances such as the YMCA and "Cotton Eye Joe" plus be part of a variety of ballpark experiences.
