Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, will play an active role in this week's Blue Water Fest activities in downtown Port Huron.

Fighting Falcons players Alex Archibald, Nick Horne, Jon Kopacka and Vito Aluia will join team mascot Shootzy in Wednesday's Rotary International Day Parade down Main Street at 6:30 p.m. Players will pass out temporary tattoos to kids and fans throughout the parade.

Representatives from the team will also join Operation Transformation to take part in Thursday's Family Night from 5 to 9 p.m. on the Northeast lawn near the 10th Street Bridge. Family Night features dozens of games and activities for children, including face painting, balloon animals, magicians and inflatable play areas.

Shootzy will take photos with kids and families, and the team will hold a hockey game at their table where kids have the chance to win a Fighting Falcons mini-stick (limit two per family while supplies last). Fighting Falcons players will also be on hand to sign autographs.

"Blue Water Fest is one of the highlights of the summer in the area, and it's something I remember enjoying being a part of as a player here years ago," said Fighting Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon. "It's a great opportunity to get out in the community and interact with our fans.

"Being an active part of the Blue Water Area is an important focus of ours moving forward," Gershon added. "We want to be a part of this community year-round, not just during the season."

The Fighting Falcons will have a presence at many other events this summer, including Saturday's fireworks show, next month's powerboat races and a handful of Big Screen Movies in the Park events.

The team returns to McMorran Arena for their fourth NAHL season this fall. Season ticket packages start at just $175, and the first 25 fans to purchase two or more full season ticket packages will receive a free game-worn Fighting Falcons jersey.
