Shockmain Davis returning to play for the Drillers

BEAUMONT, TX -- The Beaumont Drillers have announced the re-signing of wide receiver and kickoff return specialist, Shockmain Davis. Davis, a 6-1, 205-pound former Port Arthur Lincoln standout, will be in uniform tonight at 7 p.m. when the Drillers practice at the Salvation Army Field off Interstate-10 in Beaumont and will be available for interviews.

Davis played for the Rhein Fire of NFL-Europe last year and was named to the All-NFL-Europe first team after a stellar year returning kicks. He returned 19 for 571 yards averaging 30.1 yards per return with two touchdowns, the longest a 93-yard score. He also caught 27 passes for 331 yards averaging 12.3 yards per reception with one touchdown.

Davis was in the Green Bay Packers camp last season after playing for Rhein, but broke his leg in the second week of training camp.

Davis was also an original member of the 2003 Drillers playing in five games catching 30 passes for 286 yards and nine touchdowns. He also returned 11 kicks for 218 yards and averaged 19.8 yards per return scoring once. He went on to sign with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

The Drillers (1-1) had a bye week and will travel to Cincinnati (0-0) to face the Marshals on March 26 at 7:05 p.m.
