Roughnecks and Whataburger announce reading program

ODESSA, TX. The Odessa Roughnecks and Whataburger have teamed with ECISD to create the "Take the Challenge, Tackle Reading" school reading program for fourth grade classrooms throughout Odessa.

The program, which includes: Roughneck players coming into the classroom and reading a story to the students, receipt of a gift bag of school supplies, question and answer period and autograph session: is designed to spark students' interest in the fun and enjoyment of recreational reading.

Additionally, students are presented with the opportunity to receive two free tickets to a Roughnecks game and a coupon for a kid's meal at Whataburger by participating in a program that awards points for extracurricular reading.

The Roughnecks will be visiting Milam Elementary (8:15 S. Dixie) at 1:15 PM, tomorrow March 22. This is the second in a series of visits to various elementary schools including: Blackshear, Bureleson, LBJ, Milam, Murray Fly, Noel, and Pease.
