Spokane Shock News Release

Spokane, WA: : The Spokane Shock hosted their cross state rival the Everett Hawks for the final regular season home game and came away with a narrow one point victory 69-68.

This victory makes Head Coach Chris Siegfried the winningest Coach in af2 history and sealed home field advantage throughout the single elimination play-offs.

With over 10,000 fans in attendance, the crowd seemed to disturb the road-weary Hawks as they had ten penalties for over 90 yards in the first quarter alone.

"The crowd tonight was a huge factor, "Siegfried said. "These wild and crazy crowds will be a real asset for us in the post-season."

The sold-out crowd made its presence felt growing louder and louder as the game wore on. The crowd grew to a deafening level in the 4th Quarter as the Hawks tried to seal an upset on a two point conversion attempt. This attempt failed after a costly penalty was called on the play. The two subsequent attempts, that included an extra point attempt, failed sealing the victory for the Shock.

The Shock's offense was filled with short quick passes that allowed Quarterback Kyle Rowley to complete 25 of his 38 pass attempts. Rowley was able to spread the ball throughout his deep receiving core as seven different receivers had two or more receptions.

Two of those receivers, Kevin Beard and Antwone Savage, combined for six touchdowns earning both of them player of the game awards.

New Hawks Head Coach Anthony Wells settled his team down after a penalty laiden first quarter behind Hawk's Quarterback Brian Barker.

Barker's offense made the most of their possessions leading the Hawks to four separate one-play scoring drives including a 20 yard pass to JR Thomas in the first quarter that gave the Hawks their second led of the game. Thomas and Deontra Johnson continued to rattle the Shock's secondary throughout the game combining for seven touchdown receptions on the night.

This was the second close loss for a much improved Everett team in the last two weeks.

NOTES...DS Isaiah Trufant left the game in the third quarter with a hamstring strain but the extent of the injury is not known at this time.
