Central Valley Coyotes News Release

(Fresno, Ca.) The Central Valley Coyotes (11-4) secured a first round home playoff game this past Saturday when they beat the Oklahoma City Yard Dawz (10-5) 60-42. The lost also knocked the Yard Dawz out of contention for the Mid-West Division title. The Coyotes also extended their best winning streak in team history to six; the prior best was three games. The win at home also gave the Coyotes a home winning streak of four in a row.

The Coyotes came out strong in the first half scoring each time they had possession of the ball, four touchdowns and a field goal. Coyotes quarterback and "Schutt Offensive Player of the Game" Scott Rislov ended the game connecting on 29 of his 49 passes for 355 yards and 8 touchdowns. Those 8 touchdowns passes brought him to 98 for the season, just one touchdown short of the af2 touchdown passing record of 99 and seven off the Arena Football record (both ALF and af2) of 105.

The Coyotes leading receiver LaMonte Jones caught four of Rislov's eight touchdowns including one that sealed the game with five seconds on the clock. Emmet White caught two touchdowns and "U.S. Army Ironman of the Game" Josh Robinson caught one as did Marvin Brown. Browns 34 yard reception earn him the "Cutters Catch of the Game".

Robinson helped earn his game award by contributing on defense with 3 tackles and an interception with late in 4th quarter that helped take some wind out of the Dawz sail. Robinson was helped with some stellar defensive play from Kenny Haslip who put some hard hits on the Yard Dawz receivers. The Coyotes defensive line lead by "ADT Defensive Player of the Game" Doug Langenfeld put pressure on Dawz quarterback Craig Strickland forcing him to make some bad decisions.

The Coyotes will take their six game win streak and 6-1 road record to Stockton next Saturday to play the Lightning for the third time this season. Will the "Sweep" come out? The Coyotes will be looking to end the regular season 12-4 and go into the playoffs on positive note. You can listen to the play by play of Rick Van Horn and Guy Haberman on ESPN 1430 am, kick off will be at 7:30 P.M. PST.
