June 24, 2006 - Spokane, WA: It wasn't the Fourth of July, but don't tell that to the Spokane Shock who put on an explosive show defeating the Albany Conquest 49-46.

The Shock's offense kicked into gear in the second half behind Quarterback Kyle Rowley. Rowley was inserted to start the third quarter and finished the game with four touchdowns and 193 yards. Rowley, who saw his first significant amount of playing time this season, made the most of it helping the Shock in their come from behind win over the Conquest.

"I'm so proud of the guys," Shock Head Coach Chris Siegfried said. "The way they fought back in order to persevere," Siegfried added.

The two newest members of the Shock - WR/DB Jesse Hendrix and DS Isaiah Trufant - certainly made their presence felt as they combined for 12.5 tackles with 4 pass break-ups. Hendrix also made a crucial on-side kick recovery in the fourth quarter that helped propel the Shock to take the lead thanks to a successful two point conversion by WR/DB Anthony Griffin on a pass from Rowley.

The Conquest boasts one of the top offenses in the league led by starting Quarterback Ryan Vena. Vena didn't disappoint as he passed 229 yards and four touchdowns. Vena, who is among the top ten in 18 offensive af2 categories, came out of the gates firing on all cylinders as the Conquest offense scored on every possession they had in the first half.

Vena's top receivers OS Bakari Brown and WR/DB Thomas Anthony played well in the first half but were shut down in the second half thanks to the Shock secondary of Hendrix, Trufant, and DS Rob Keefe.

The Shock travel to Arkansas next week to take on the Twisters and then return to Spokane on July 8th as they host the Amarillo Dusters at the Spokane Arena.

Notes - WR/DB Kevin Beard left the third quarter suffering from a vicious hit against the boards after making an acrobatic catch. Early indications from the Shock's training staff indicate that he has a neck sprain and a chest contusion.
