Shock To Hold Tryout In Pullman
December 21, 2009 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that they hold an open tryout for prospective players on Sunday February 14th at Washington State University's indoor practice facility in Pullman, Wa. Registration will begin at 8 AM and the tryout will begin at 9 AM.
Last week, the Shock announced that they will hold two additional tryouts in Los Angeles and Atlanta. The February 14th tryout in Pullman will be the only open tryout in the state of Washington and the Shock's first at Washington State University.
"We have received a lot of local interest from prospective players who want to try out," Head Coach Rob Keefe said. "The Pacific Northwest has a lot of good football players from good programs like Eastern, Oregon and Montana who often get overlooked. This is their opportunity to prove that they are ready to take their game to the professional level."
The cost of the tryout is $50 for those who pre-register, and $65 at the door. Registration forms are available at www.spokaneshock.com.
The playing surface will be turf and players need to dress accordingly with turf shoes (no cleats), athletic shorts and a t-shirt.
The format of the tryout will be a pro-style combine. Players will run through the following drills: 1) vertical jump, 2) shuttle run, 3) 40-yard dash, and 4) broad jump. Immediately following these tests players will begin position-specific drills, followed by one-on-one drills.
This will be the third and final open tryout before the 2010 Shock season begins.
