Tulsa Shock News Release
Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa Shock have selected Jordan Hooper with the 13th overall pick and Theresa Plaisance with the 27th overall pick, respectively, in the WNBA Draft. Hooper, a forward from Nebraska, finished her career averaging 20.4 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game and shot 43.7 percent from the field. Hooper is one of two Big Ten players in history with 2,300 points and 1,100 rebounds.
"I am very excited about Jordan joining our team, she is a winner," said Fred Williams, Head Coach of the Tulsa Shock. "I look forward to working with her on the basketball court. We will help our transition game with her high percentage shooting and post-up game."
"Jordan is a player who can shoot the three and be able to create a post-up game with her size at the three or four position," said Steve Swetoha, President of the Tulsa Shock. "She is going to surprise some people with her three-point shot as well. We are excited to have her in Tulsa.
Plaisance, a forward from LSU, finished her senior season averaging 15.3 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game and shot 42.4 percent from the field. Plaisance was named to All-SEC First Team (2013, 2014) and had 21 straight double-figure scoring games through the NCAA Sweet 16.
"Theresa will help us in the post position with her ability to run the floor and block shots," said Fred Williams, Head Coach of the Tulsa Shock. "She is tremendous rebounder, and works hard on defense."
"Plaisance is a big post who has been All-SEC First-Team as a junior and senior," said Steve Swetoha, President of the Tulsa Shock. "She gives us an additional presence in the post area at 6'5" and comes from a great conference in the SEC."
Training camp will open on Sunday, April 27 at Edison High School. Tulsa's home opener will be on Friday, May 23 vs. Minnesota Lynx at 7:00 p.m. at the BOK Center. For season tickets and more information call 918-949-9700.
