SPOKANE, Washington (October 7, 2015) - The Shock have announced the addition of defensive back Lorenzo White Jr. to their 2016 IFL roster.
White (DB, 6-0, 185, Central Michigan) joins the Shock for his second season as a member of the IFL. Last season as a member of the Tri-Cities Fever, White joined the team after the first three games of the regular season and went on to play in seven games where he recorded 20.5 total tackles (16 solo), one tackle for loss, two pass break-ups, and one interception. After suffering a minor injury, White sat out the last few regular season games before returning to the active roster for the Fever's playoff game.
"Lorenzo was one of my standout rookie players with the Fever in 2015," said Shock Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He has tremendous ability and range as a cover corner and is one of the hardest workers I have coached during my career. We're looking forward to a full season with him, he'll fit in our defensive scheme very well."
In 2013, White worked out with the NFL's Miami Dolphins and was in camp with the CFL's Montreal Allouettes. Last spring, he also worked out with the NFL's Green Bay Packers. Prior to beginning his professional career, White played all four of his collegiate seasons at Central Michigan University where he competed in 44 total contests and recorded 95 total tackles, one interception, and 15 pass break-ups (ten during his senior season). White is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Lorenzo White Jr. is the son of former NFL running back Lorenzo White. White Sr. was a two-time consensus All-American selection at Michigan State University and was the first Big Ten Conference running back to put together a 2,000-yard season (1985). After his collegiate career, he was selected by the Houston Oilers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft. He would go on to play eight seasons in the NFL and earned a Pro-Bowl selection in 1992.
