Spokane Shock News Release

June 10, 2006, - Louisville, KY: The Spokane Shock suffered their first road loss of the season as they fell at the hands of the Louisville Fire 79-69.

.

Louisville Quarterback Brett Dietz led the Fire's offense orchestrating a nearly flawless offensive game plan. Dietz set the tone early in their first drive of the game, when he was a perfect four for four through the air and capped off the drive with a 2-yard touchdown that Dietz ran in on a Quarterback keeper. Dietz completed the night with 259 yards on 25 of 34 passes with eight touchdowns.

"We are really starting to hit our stride here in the second half of the season," Dietz said.

Dietz's offense continued to dominate the Shock's defense spreading the ball amongst a talented core of receivers including the af2's leading receiver Rob Mager. Mager picked apart the Shock's defensive secondary as he hauled in four touchdowns with 86 yards. Fire WR/DB Lance Taylor also had his way with the Shock's secondary as he had 10 receptions on the night for 106 yards and three touchdowns.

Shock WR/LB Charles Frederick had his way with the defense of the Fire. Frederick, who has been named the af2's US ARMY IRONMAN of the week the last two weeks, had another impressive game including seven touchdowns with 192 yards. Defensively, Frederick had three solo tackles and recovered an on-side kick late in the game that was overturned by an off-side penalty and could have turned the tide for the Shock.

Offensively, the Shock ran a solid game plan behind starting Quarterback Alex Neist. Neist was effective throwing for over 300 yards with 8 touchdowns. Shock Offensive Specialist Antwone Savage also put up some impressive numbers with four receptions for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite these offensive numbers, it simply was not enough to overcome the high powered offensive attack of the Fire led by Dietz.

The Shock have a bye next week but will resume play at home on June 24th as they host the Albany Conquest. Tickets are still available and can be purchased calling (509) 325 SEAT or visiting any TicketsWest outlet.
