Shock Assigned Jimmy Williams

SPOKANE, WA (January 6, 2014) - The Spokane Shock have been assigned defensive back Jimmy Williams to the 2014 roster.

Jimmy Williams (6-3, 210, Virginia Tech) joins the Shock for his rookie AFL season in 2014. During his four years at Virginia Tech as a free safety Williams recorded 264 total tackles, including 12.5 for loss, and nine interceptions. After his senior season with the Hokies in 2005 he was named a consensus first-team All-American and a first-team All-ACC player. Following his final collegiate season he was drafted 37th overall in the second round by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2006 NFL Draft. Williams spent two years with the Falcons, starting seven games while seeing action in 27. During his time in Atlanta, Williams racked up 40 total tackles and one interception. Williams has also spent time with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. During his high school career, Williams spent time at quarterback, wide receiver, safety and outside linebacker.

"Jimmy has impressive size along with a NFL resume," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden. "Has all the tools to be a difference-maker for us in the defensive secondary ."
