Spokane Shock News Release
SPOKANE, WA (October 19, 2012) - The Shock have been assigned offensive lineman Chris Pino and defensive lineman and linebacker Marc Schiechl to the 2013 roster. Each player has agreed to two-year contracts with the Shock for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
Pino, rejoined the 2012 Shock roster mid-season and anchored the offensive line with his veteran experience in six games. Prior to his inaugural season with Spokane in 2010, Pino spent time with the AFL's San Jose SaberCats and the NFL's Baltimore Ravens. Collegiately, Pino played two seasons for the San Diego State Aztecs in 2004-2005 after transferring from Palomar Junior College where he spent his first two collegiate seasons at defensive end. Chris is a product of El Comino High School in Oceanside, CA.
"Pino is a tremendous athlete that has always played well in Spokane and provides a significant asset on our offensive line. He's a very solid pass blocker that can also be a factor catching the football from the tight end position and we're excited to have him back on our roster," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
Scheichl, a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, joined the Shock as a rookie in the AFL late in the 2012 season. From the mac linebacker position, Marc was a powerful inside rusher and added a strong compliment to jack linebacker Terence Moore late in the year. He recorded 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one pass break up on the season. Collegiately, Marc started in 37 of the 47 games he appeared over his four seasons at CSM. He was the first three-time all-American in CSM football program history as he became the all-time NCAA Division II career leader in sacks (46) and fourth in the NCAA Division II in career tackles for a loss (70.5). Scheichl is a native of Lakewood, CO, Marc where he attended Bear Creek High School.
"Marc stepped up for us as a rookie last season and has the ability to play defensive end or mac linebacker equally well. He's very strong and possesses a great amount of athleticism that should make him a solid player for us," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
