Swin Cash started the Cash for Kids Charity two years ago to assist youth agencies and schools in the metro Detroit area and in Cash's hometown, McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The mission of the Charity is to provide the essential tools for kids to "get in the game educationally and on the court." With a focus on helping children develop their skills both inside and outside of the classroom, "Cash for Kids" provides financial support to the arts while focusing on culture, literacy, athletics and youth development initiatives. At each Shock home game, Cash for Kids Charity donates 32 tickets and "Cash for Kids" tee shirts for underprivileged youth to attend. Cash for Kids and the Detroit Shock and Pistons-Palace Foundation also opened a state-of-the-art resource center for the students at Ferguson Academy for Young Women in Detroit in May.
