Spokane Shock News Release
July 24, 2009 - Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that they have added DB Rob Green and WR Montrell Jones to their roster.
Green, 6-1 207, is currently in his fifth year in the af2, having previously played for the Cincinnati Swarm, the Albany Conquest, the Louisville Fire, the Mahoning Valley Thunder, and most recently the Manchester Wolves.
Green played in eight games this season for the Wolves racking up 23.5 tackles, five interceptions, six pass break-ups, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. He was also named the league's Aaron's Defensive player of the week in week four, after he helped the Wolves beat the Tri-Cities Fever 69-33 by collecting 3.5 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one pass break up, and a half tackle for loss.
"Rob's a veteran who has earned his stripes in this league," Head Coach Adam Shackleford explained. "When I was in Louisville and Cincinnati Rob was a great guy to have in the locker room and we expect the same out of him here in Spokane."
Jones, 6-2 215, finished his impressive collegiate career at the University of Louisville in 2004, where he was third on the team with 37 catches for 564 yards. He was also named the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the week after his three touchdowns (two receiving and one punt return) helped Louisville defeat Cincinnati 70-7, to clinch the Conference USA championship.
Over his collegiate career he played in 32 games racking up 65 receptions for 920 yards averaging 14.2 yards per catch.
Most recently, Jones appeared on the Spike TV reality show "4th and Long" with host Michael Irvin.
Green and Jones are both eligible to play in this weekend's regular season finale against the Burn in Boise.
Kickoff against the Burn is set for Saturday night at 6 PM and can be heard on 105.7 THE PEAK with Larry Weir and Paul Sorensen. The Shock will return home to Spokane for a first-round playoff match-up against the Stockton Lightning on August 1st. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting TicketsWest.
