Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock pass rush received another injection of talent today with the addition of Southern Methodist DL/LB Youri Yenga. At 6'1" 240, Yenga's athleticism and pass rush skills caught the attention of the Atlanta Falcons where he signed as a Free Agent in 2011.
The two-time All Conference USA selection made an impact at numerous positions for SMU, primarily at defensive end and linebacker. During his four-year career as a Mustang, Yenga collected 139 tackles with 13 sacks and added nine pass break-ups with seven forced fumbles.
"Youri's ability to consistently pressure the quarterback from a variety of spots really jumped out on film. He has the ability to play a number of spots for us and we feel he can be effective at all of them," Shock Head Coach Andy Olson said.
Spokane Shock General Manger Ryan Rigmaiden continued, "It's rare you find a player that has his kind of strength and explosion, but also has such versatility. He was asked to do everything at SMU and he's a complete football player. We're lucky to have him."
Spokane opens its 2012 season on March 12th hosting the Iowa Barnstormers at 7 PM. Season tickets are on sale now, starting at just $90, can be purchased by contacting the Shock Office at 509 242 7462 ext.1.
