Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that WR/KR Quorey Payne has been added to the 2010 roster.
Payne, 5-10 185, had a breakout season last year with the Mahoning Valley Thunder, leading his team in scoring with 31 touchdowns (186 points). During his three-year af2 career, Payne accumulated 4,571 all-purpose yards with 57 touchdowns.
"Quorey Payne has great football instincts - he knows how to make people miss tackles and he knows when to use his speed," Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. "It's great to have a veteran player like
Quorey Payne in camp. He's an extremely hard worker and a great student of the game. He will be a great addition to the roster."
During his rookie season with the Louisville Fire in 2007, Payne played against Spokane in the playoffs and that trip certainly left a favorable impression.
"I was blown away with the fan support and the arena," Payne recalled. "Spokane has a winning reputation with a great fan base. I'm just excited to get up there and help them win a ring."
Prior to his professional career, Payne attended Southern Illinois University and recorded 42 receptions for 721 yards with seven touchdowns. As a Saluki, Payne also excelled on special teams, averaging 21 yards per kick return and seven yards per punt return.
