Talons Sign 1st Players For Inaugural Year In Arena Football One

The Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football One League confirmed today the signing of Justin Allgood, Jeff Hughley and Jamar Ransom.

Justin Allgood University of Central Oklahoma 6'1 220 Quarterback

Allgood will again be competing to take the reins of the Talons offense this year and will look to follow up his astonishing 108 passing touchdown season he had in 2009. Allgood finished the regular season completing 65% of his passes for 4312 yards and108 touchdowns with only 17 interceptions. The Central Oklahoma product has been nothing but lights out ever since becoming the starter during the 2007 championship run. Allgood brings with him a record of 37-5 as the starting quarterback over the past 2 1/2 seasons and the Talons will look for much of the same from him this upcoming year.

Jeff Hughley Averett University 5'8 170 Wide Receiver

In the former arenafootball2 League last season,Hughley set multiple team and league records and was one of the major producerson the Talons record setting offense.Hughley finished the regular season with 140 catches for 1909 yards and 50 touchdowns. He also had 2,207 return yards and added another 5 touchdowns in the return game. For his performance, he was named the Ironman of the Year in 2009 as well as receiving 1st team All Conference honors. He will be looked at again this year to be major contributor in the Talons offense.

Jamar Ransom Oklahoma State University 6'0 230 Linebacker

Jamar Ransom returns to the Talons this season carrying with him the title of being the teams leading tackler from the past two seasons. In the past three years with the Talons,Ransom has amassed an amazing 234.5 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 10 interceptions and 11 fumble recoveries in the regular seasons. For his efforts this past season he was awarded with 1st team All Conference honors. The Talons will lookfor the former Oklahoma State Cowboyto be the emotional leader of the defense for yet another season.

Coaches Mitch Allner and Craig Strickland are extremely excited to have these three players back. "With the emergence of the new Arena Football One League, these players along with others are going to be given an opportunity to showcase their talents on the largest stage of Arena Football in the country," said Head Coach Allner. For the Tulsa Talons, all three have been a huge part of the success of the franchise in the past few years and the Talons look for them to carry on the team's winning tradition in the inaugural year of Arena Football One.

Paul Ross, partner and Director of Football Operations, echoed the comments of Allner, "Having these guys back is a great start to the signing season. We look forward to making other major player signing announcements in the coming weeks."

The Tulsa Talons, af2's all time winning team, will play in the new Arena Football One League starting in the Spring of 2010. "It's great to see major league arena football come to the city of Tulsa. Our new partners in the league are accustomed to playing major league arena football and are excited to be back on the field playing again in 2010," said Ross.

The Arena Football One corporate office will be located in Tulsa, giving Tulsa its first major league home office. Jerry Kurz, President of the league said, "I am really excited to bring the league here. Everyone in Tulsa has been great. I would especially like to thank Mayor Taylor, The Tulsa Chamber, in particular Mike Neal and Mike Dodson of the Tulsa Sports Commission."

Michael Johnson, also a Talons partner, is enthusiastic about a new relationship with the BOK Center. "John Bolton and I have created a new partnership agreement which will be beneficial to the fans, the Talons organization and the Arena in terms of attracting new fans and creating an even more exciting experience for our loyal fan base. By working closer together we are able to capture synergies which will allow our fans the enjoyment of major league arena football at a reasonable price."

In front office news, Allison Webb continues as the Director of Game Day Operations. Corey MacIntyre, General Manager, indicated that the staff would be up to full strength soon. "We have been working since the close of the last year's division championship game and are well ahead of last year in ticket sales and sponsorships." MacIntyre added, "Season ticket prices are the same as last year until January 1, 2010, so now is a great time to purchase them."
