Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that they have added Tavirus Davis as the 13th member of their inaugural roster
Davis, 6'2" 215, will line up offensively as a Wide Receiver and as a Linebacker on defense, an opportunity that Davis relishes.
"To play in this league you have to play on both sides of the ball - and I love that. It's fun to go out there and hit the guys who hit you while you were on offense," Davis explained.
Davis is an arenafootball 2 veteran who played for the Florida Firecats in the 2004 season before being traded to the Columbus Wardogs that same season. Davis played in 10 games for the Wardogs catching 11 passes including three touchdowns with a 6.7 yard average per catch. Defensively, Davis had 18 tackles and a sack.
While in college, Davis played at the University of Central Florida. As a sophomore, Davis played with All-American Quarterback Daunte Culpepper and caught 4 passes for 67 yards that season. After red-shirting his freshman season, he went on to lead the team in catches (47) and yards (722) his senior year.
Head Coach Chris Siegfried is calling Davis a "key acquisition," to the roster as an experienced veteran with a lot of physical tools.
"He is a big, physical player who has the ability to intimidate opposing DB's (defensive backs)," Siegfried said. "On defense, he should be one of the more dominating Jack Linebacker's (Middle Linebacker's) in af2."
Davis will join the Shock in March as training camp begins on March 13th. He will be one of 37 players invited to camp competing for 22 roster spots.
The Spokane Shock will open their 2006 season on March 30th at the Spokane Arena as they host the Stockton Lightening. Season Tickets are available now by contacting the Spokane Shock at 509 242 7462 or online at www.spokaneshock.com.
