Spokane Shock News Release

The Spokane Shock announced today that FB/LB Wyatt Gayer (pronounced "GIRE") has been assigned to the 2007 roster the league office. Meanwhile, recent acquisition Marques Ledbetter - who the Shock signed earlier this month -has signed a contract with the Arena Football League's Kansas City Brigade.

Gayer was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as a non-drafted free agent in 2006 and was released after making it through the first three rounds of cuts. Before signing with the Bengals, Gayer played at Anderson University under current Shock Head Coach Adam Shackleford, who was on the coaching staff at the time.

"Wyatt is a young man who came from a small school who had an opportunity to play at the NFL but he needs to get some more pro football experience and he should be back in the NFL very soon," Shackleford said.

Gayer capped his senior season at Anderson with an outstanding performance at the Magnolia Gridiron Classic All- Star game, accounting for nine tackles in the game. He was also selected to the 1st Team All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in both 2004 and 2005. In his career at Anderson, Gayer played in 34 games totaling 165 tackles with 32 tackles for a loss - second all time at Anderson - and added 22 sacks - third all time at Anderson.

The Shock will begin their quest to defend the Championship on Saturday, March 31st as they host the Stockton Lightning on Northern Quest Casino Field at the Spokane Arena. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 509 242 7462.
