Tulsa Shock News Release
TULSA, Okla. (July 2, 2012) - The Tulsa Shock acquired veteran guard Roneeka Hodges from the Indiana Fever in exchange for Karima Christmas, Head Coach Gary Kloppenburg announced earlier today.
Hodges is averaging 3.2 points in 8.9 minutes through 12 games with the Fever this season. Hodges had a season-high 15 points in a decisive 91-68 victory over the New York Liberty on June 2.
"Roneeka is a veteran pro who is a proven three-point shooter with excellent scoring ability," Kloppenburg said. "She gives us an added outside scoring threat and is also a good defender."
Hodges, a graduate of Florida State University, averaged a career-high 9.9 points a game in 27.9 minutes in 33 games for the Minnesota Lynx in 2009. The Shock will be Hodges' fifth WNBA team.
Christmas started six of the 14 games in which she appeared for the Shock this season, averaging 3.6 points a game 11.5 minutes. The second year guard was signed by the Shock last July after being waived by the Washington Mystics. Christmas was selected in the second round (23rd overall) by the Mystics in the 2011 WNBA Draft.
