
Sharks Welcome Two Explorers and Two Spartans

The Wilmington Sharks are excited to welcome Explorers Colin Kennedy and Erik Janns from La Salle University as well as Spartans Brandon Stephens and Austin Parsley from UNC Greensboro.
"I have never been to Wilmington, but I heard it is a beautiful area and I heard the Sharks are a good program to be a part of," said Kennedy.
Kennedy is currently a sophomore this season with the Explorers and has recorded 46 strikeouts so far in 2019. In his last outing on May 11 vs Fordham, he pitched a season high 6.1 innings. His 49 strikeouts as a freshman in 2018 led the team.
He was a two-sport athlete at Hatboro Horsham High School in Pennsylvania having also lettered in basketball. He was a varsity player for all four years of high school and had all four of his season ERAs under two including a 0.39 ERA as a senior and not allowing a single earned run as a freshman.
During his senior year, he made the Second Team All-State and the First Team All-Conference teams and helped lead the team to a conference title. His uncle, Dave Schlosser, is a coach on the Explorers' Volleyball team.
Janns is currently in his junior season with the Explorers and has made fourteen appearances on the mound so far this season. He combined for sixteen outings as a freshman and sophomore. After no wins in his first two seasons, he now has three so far in 2019. He has raised his strikeout total each year he has been on the Explorers. He was a named to the All-Conference team in each of his final two years at Avalon High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. As a junior, he was also named conference MVP.
"The city of Wilmington is known for being such a great town and it is hard to turn down an opportunity to play there," said Janns.
Stephens made sixteen appearances on the mound in his freshman year with the Spartans in 2017, including one start. He also recorded a save and seventeen strikeouts. After redshirting in 2018, he has upped his strikeout total to 43 and his save total to 3 so far in 2019. During his time at Willow Christian Academy High School in Willow Spring, he excelled with a bat in addition to on the mound.
He hit over .400 in each of his final three seasons including hitting .526 as a junior and .506 as a sophomore.
Parsley joined the Spartans this year as a redshirt sophomore transfer after beginning his collegiate career with the St. Johns River State College Vikings. He has previous Collegiate Summer Baseball experience having spent the summer of 2018 with the SBA Bones of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. He recorded 36 strikeouts and a 3.20 ERA with the Bones earning him a spot on the All-Star Team.
