
Sharks Welcome Three Tigers to Wilmington

The Wilmington Sharks are excited announce the additions of Clemson University players James Parker and Bryar Hawkins to Wilmington for the 2019 summer. Both Parker and Hawkins are currently freshmen on the Tigers.
"I am looking forward to meeting some new guys that are from other schools and getting to watch and learn how they play," said Hawkins on the excitement of the upcoming season.
Hawkins played four seasons of Varsity Baseball with West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia. During his Junior season, he was the Most Valuable Player of his region and was selected on to the All-State team. He is currently hitting .290 this season with the Tigers.
Of the 40 base hits he has recorded so far this year, twelve of them have been extra base hits including six home runs and five doubles. This past Friday against Georgia Tech, he recorded his first career four hit and multi home run game. He also stole a base for the first time in his collegiate career.
Parker made the All-Region team in all four of his years at T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, South Carolina and ultimately made it to the All-State team during his senior year. He is currently the All-Time hits leader at T.L. Hanna. He is a .236 hitter so far with Clemson and has three doubles to his credit.
He is a second-generation Tiger with his father Tim having led the team in starts on the mound, innings pitched, and strike outs during the 1990 season. Tim also recorded five complete game,with three of those being shutouts before being drafted in the third round by the Chicago Cubs.
"My father grew up in Wilmington and I have visited ever since I was younger," said Parker on why he chose the Sharks. "I also think that the city of Wilmington is a great place and I enjoy the city."
