Morehead City, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (0-1, 14-14) lose 6-0 on the road to open up the second half of the CPL season against the Morehead City Marlins (1-0, 13-16) on Wednesday night.

The Marlins had the hot bats and good pitching against the Sharks as Ben Fuchs was the starting pitcher for the Marlins as he hurled seven innings of shutout baseball as he only surrendered two hits and struck out to pick his third win of the year.

Dylan Brown started things off for the Marlins as he picked up a two out RBI triple in the bottom of the third and eventually scored to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.

The Marlins picked up two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning as Brown scored on a fielder's choice and Ryan Cranmer scored on a single off the bat of Sam Ott to extend the Marlins lead to 4-0. In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Marlins picked up two more runs on a two run home run off the bat of the Brad Haynal his first of the year.

Alex Luna threw well for the Sharks as he gave up four runs, three of them earned on five hits and struck out two. Alex Freedman went 2-3 at the plate for Wilmington in the ball game.

The Sharks return back home on Thursday night as they play host to Edenton Steamers with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
