Sharks GM to Run for Charity

Wilmington, NC; January 24, 2011 - The Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced today that General Manager, Andrew Aguilar will be running in the Cooper River Bridge Run, in Charleston, SC on April 2, 2011.

Aguilar will also be trying to raise money for the Special Olympics. The Cooper River Bridge Run is the best organized and the best conducted 10-K race in the world. It includes world-class competition in a unique setting with unparalleled participant satisfaction. It broadens community cooperation and participation in healthy events throughout the year. The Cooper River Bridge Run serves as a model of health motivation for other communities throughout the world.

"We are very proud of Andrew for undertaking such a great charitable endeavor. Special Olympics of Wilmington is a tremendous organization that helps so many local athletes through all of their various programs," Said Darrell Handelsman, owner of the Sharks.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 15th season, The Coastal Plain League features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer. The CPL has had over 700 alumni drafted and 35 alums make their Major League debut thus far.
