Wilson, North Carolina-The Wilmington Sharks suffered their first setback in the second half of play Thursday night at Fleming Stadium with a 2-1 loss to the Wilson Tobs in a pitcher's duel. The loss dropped the Sharks to 0-2 in the season series with the Tobs.

With the game tied at one in the bottom of the eighth, Sharks relief pitcher Andrew Kaminsky, who was fresh into the game, hit Tobs leadoff hitter Kevin Jordan on the first pitch to begin the inning. Kaminsky was pulled after the one pitch for Henry Cartrett. With one out, Cartrett overthrew first on a pick off attempt, allowing Jordan to advance to third. Jordan then came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Gore giving the Tobs the lead. The Sharks were set down in order in the ninth to end the game.

Trailing 1-0, the Sharks began a rally when Cory Everett was hit by pitch to begin the top of the seventh against the Tobs bullpen. Chad Fairey extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single to advance Everett to third. With one out, Clemente Inclan drove home Everett on a squeeze play to tie the game. Fairey advanced to third on the play and Inclan was thrown out trying to advance to second. Aaron McKeithan then flew out to end the inning.

Before the Sharks began their rally, Tobs starter Jacob Gilmore was dominant on the mound. He threw six shutout innings, striking out five, and allowed only two hits. He retired the first six Shark hitters he faced and took a no-hit bid into the fourth inning.

Sharks starter Austin Parsley mastered the Tobs offense with as much ease as Gilmore. He became the first Sharks starting pitcher to go more than six innings in a game, going seven. He allowed only one run and gave up only five hits overall. He recorded one strikeout in each of his seven innings of work.

The one run he gave up was a solo home run hit by Jordan to lead off the fifth and break the scoreless tie.
