CAMDEN, NJ- The Riversharks dropped the third game of their final series with the Lancaster Barnstormers Wednesday. The Barnstormers put on a clinic for the third consecutive night. The subject? "How to put it where they ain't."
Lancaster took the lead in the first when outfielder Michael Woods doubled to left and scored on a fielding error by Sharks third baseman Mike Thompson. The hit was the first of 14 total knocks by the Stormers, and the error the first of two for Thompson.
The Riversharks battled back in the bottom of the inning to score two and take their only lead of the game. With two on, outfielder Ron Davenport smashed an RBI double to right. He scored on a single by first baseman Tyler Von Schell. The Sharks led 2-1.
The Stormers put another run up in the second to tie and four apiece in the third and fourth innings to take a 10-2 lead. Designated hitter Matt LeCroy scored three runs and knocked in another two by the end of the fourth.
The Sharks scored in the bottom of the fourth on a ground out by Cody Collet to make it 10-3, and the Stormers in the ninth on a homer by LeCroy. LeCroy ended the night 3-for-5.
The Sharks were anxious to prove their might in the bottom of the ninth against reliever Cody Mavroulis. Thompson led off with a single. He scored three batters later when designated hitter Nic Jackson smoked a two-run single to right to make it 10-5.
Then, with two on, outfielder Gabe Suarez lined a two-run double to right to bring the score to 10-7, where it would remain until the final out.
