Wilmington Sharks News Release

Fayetteville, NC-The Wilmington Sharks faced another night in which nothing went their way in an 8- 1 loss to the Fayetteville SwampDogs Friday night at JP Riddle Stadium.

The route began when Nathan Dill and Jojo Allen became the second tandem to homer back-to-back against the Sharks in 2019, making it 2-0 SwampDogs in the second inning.

The SwampDogs added to their lead when Konner Piotto led off the fifth with a triple. The next four SwampDog hitters singled, leading to a four-run inning to make it 6-0. The SwampDogs added another run in both the sixth and the seventh to go up 8-0.

Sharks relief pitcher Troy Britts came into the game as a pinch-hitter in the ninth and doubled to lead off the inning. With two outs, Britts scored on a throwing error to put the Sharks on the board. Despite the struggles, the Sharks defense performed well and turned a total of four double plays to reduce the damage. The Sharks pitching staff also managed to get out of two bases loaded jams unscathed, one of them with nobody out.

Come and join us Saturday night at the Shark Tank as the Sharks take on the SwampDogs to celebrate the end of the summer and our last home game of the season on Back to School Night. The first 500 kids in attendance will receive a back to school kit, courtesy of Excite Credit Union. Cameron Reeves (1-2, 5.10) will start on the mound for the Sharks.
