Wilmington Sharks News Release

Morehead City, NC - The Wilmington Sharks gave up four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in a 4- 3 loss to the Morehead City Marlins Saturday night at Big Rock Stadium. The loss dropped the Sharks to 1-12 in the season series with the Marlins.

The Sharks had a 3-0 lead going into the sixth before the rally began. Dusty Baker and Hunter Shepherd to hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning. Colby Johnson was hit by the pitch to load the bases. Jack Harris doubled home Baker and Shepherd, advancing Johnson to third. Harris' double ended the night for Sharks starter Cameron Reeves.

Troy Britts entered the game in relief and retired the first two batters he faced. He then hit pinch hitter Jace Mercer to reload the bases. A passed ball allowed Johnson to score and Harris to advance to third, tying the game. Bryan Kowalski followed with an infield single to score Harris giving the Marlins the 4-3 lead.

The four run sixth spoiled a masterful performance by Reeves who struck out nine in five plus innings of work. He gave up only two hits in the first five innings before running into trouble in the sixth. He was charged with the two runs that scored after he exited, giving him the loss.

The Sharks jumped on top early when Noah Bridges, Cory Everett, and Chad Fairey hit three straight singles to load the bases with one out in the first. Clemente Inclan hit an RBI groundout to score Bridges. Aaron McKeithan then singled home Everett and Fairey to make it 3-0 Sharks in the first. The Sharks did not score again the rest of the game.

The Sharks and the Marlins will be back at it Monday night at Big Rock Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM.

The Sharks will return to the Shark Tank Wednesday night against the Florence RedWolves for Hurricane Night presented by Copycat Print Shop. Gates will open at 6:00PM for a 7:05PM first pitch.
