
Sharks Drop 7th Straight at Home

Through the first five innings, Fayetteville (11-11) opened up a 7-3 advantage over the Sharks.
Wilmington (7-15) battled back to knot the came up at eight before the visitors went on to win 11-8.
The SwampDogs were on the board early and often at the Shark Tank this afternoon. In the first, Fayetteville loaded the bases, but pushed just one across against starter, Bryce Cota. The visitors added two more in the second on a two-run homer by Tanner Piechnick.
Wilmington pulled one back in the third. Danny Wondrack scored his first of three runs on a wild pitch by Jimmy Reardon.
Fayetteville scored again in the third and fourth to take a 6-1 advantage over the Sharks.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Sharks cut the deficit to three. Doug Angeli scored on a fielder's choice and Danny Wondrack scored on a wild pitch for the second time.
With the three run lead, Jay Hayes took Austin Skipper deep to make the score 7-3.
After keeping the SwampDogs off the board in the sixth, Ward Coleman doubled to left center to bring the contest back within three.
Once again, Fayetteville responded scoring on an error by Ward Coleman to take the 8-4 lead to the seventh inning stretch.
Now though, it was the Sharks turn to capitalize on the SwampDogs' mistakes. Danny Wondrack got the inning started with a two-run double to right center to cut the deficit in half. Then on back-to- back ground balls, Javon Martin threw it way at third base allowing two runs to score.
With the score tied at eight, Fayetteville took the lead back in the eighth. Pinch hitter AJ Hrica singled home a run and then scored on the ensuing double by Matt Kelly.
A 10-8 advantage in the ninth, Tyler Shuck homered off Keith Gabrielson to close out the scoring.
Dillon Brown (2-0) picked up the win tossing 1.2 innings, while Andrew Kaminsky (2-1) lost for the Sharks. Josh Avila (1) came in for the final three outs to record his first save.
Next up, the Sharks are on the road to face the SwampDogs for the second day in a row. First pitch in Fayetteville is set for 7:05. The game tomorrow night is only available here: portal.stretchinternet.com/cplfayetteville/
