
Sharks can't overcome Bears

CAMDEN, NJ- The Newark Bears came to Camden Friday night intent on beating the first-place Riversharks, and it showed. The Bears handed the Sharks their second loss in a row, 6-3.
The Riversharks took a second-inning lead on a solo homer by left fielder Ron Davenport. Davenport continues to own Bears pitching. He entered the game .556 with two homeruns and nine RBIs from four previous games against Newark. He ended the night 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
Davenport's second RBI came in the sixth. Down 4-2, Davenport singled to center, scoring centerfielder Nic Jackson.
The Bears' offense was led by second baseman Bobby Hill, who recorded an RBI on a sac fly in the third and three more bases-clearing double in the fifth.
