Corpus Christi Sharks News Release

The Corpus Christi Sharks (arenafootball2) have brought on Arena Football veteran Marshall Foreman as the team's defensive coordinator for the 2007 season, it was announced by Sharks Head Coach Michael Trigg. Forman, a seven-year Arena Football veteran, has experience as a player and assistant coach in the AFL and af2.

Forman will work alongside Trigg for the fourth time in his career, sharing experiences in Dallas, Fort Worth, Grand Rapids, and now Corpus Christi. The highest honors of this pair came in the AFL in 2001 when Foreman directed the stingy Grand Rapids Rampage defense to the Central Division title and a victory in ArenaBowl XV against the Nashville Kats, 62-41. The Rampage posted a 22-11 mark with consecutive playoff appearances under his defensive watch in 2001 and 2002. In the inaugural year of the af2 in 2000, Foreman served as the defensive coordinator for the Tulsa Talons and led them to the playoffs. Foreman's Arena Football coaching resume also includes one season as the defensive assistant for the expansion Fort Worth Cavalry in 1994 (reached postseason) and one year as an assistant alongside Michael Trigg under Head Coach Jerry Trice with the Dallas Texans in 1993.

"Coach Foreman was an integral part of winning ArenaBowl XV and is proven in the building process facing us this year," Trigg said. "There was not a better coaching candidate available for our organization to seek and we are ecstatic he has agreed to pioneer our defense in 2007."

As a player, Foreman played for two seasons in the AFL for the Denver Dynamite in 1991 and the Sacramento Attack in 1992. Foreman tallied 69 rushes for 220 yards and three touchdowns as well as 13 pass receptions for 140 yards and two scores. Defensively, Foreman recorded 42 tackles. He began his pro career in 1987 and spent a brief time as a running back with the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League.

Forman graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1987 and holds an undergraduate degree in physical education and a master's degree in education. He played his first year with the Razorbacks under Lou Holtz, and his last three under Ken Hatfield. Forman was named an All-Southwest Conference fullback in 1984. He was one of the most highly touted high school running backs in the country after an All-State, Blue-Chip career at Cy-Fair (Cypress Fairbanks) High in greater Houston.
