Wilmington Sharks News Release

Wilmington, N.C.; May 14, 2012 - The Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced they have signed two players from Bowling Green State University; pitchers Mike Frank and Nick Bruns.

After being granted a redshirt season by the NCAA in 2012, Frank returns to the mound for the first time since pitching for the Bethesda Big Train in the summer of 2011, following his sophomore year of college. He helped the Big Train with a 2-1 record in 10 appearances, making one start and working his way to a 3.80 ERA.

Bruns is in his junior year at Bowling Green and will join the Sharks as a veteran of summer collegiate baseball. He pitched to a 1-2 record and a 3.09 ERA with a team-high 39 strikeouts for the Strasburg Express of the Valley League last year, throwing 32.0 innings in 19 contests. He also took the mound for the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes League in 2010. Currently, Bruns' 2.55 ERA is second-best on the Falcons staff.

The Wilmington Sharks are members of Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Preparing for its 16th season, The Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer. The CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 50 alums make their Major League debut thus far.
