Corpus Christi Sharks News Release

Corpus Christi Sharks Vice President and General Manager Larry Linde announced today that the team has signed versatile defensive end Jordan Hicks for the 2008 season.

Jordan Hicks, (6'4", 262lbs) is a versatile defensive player who can play either up or down for the Sharks. Hicks played his collegiate ball for the Georgetown College Tigers (NAIA) from 2002 - 2004. Despite playing at a small college, Hicks garnered NFL attention and was signed by the Oakland Raiders as a free agent. Although Hicks was released by the Raiders following training camp in 2005, he attended camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following season (2006). Hicks was signed by the Bucs and allocated to NFL Europe where he played for the Hamburg Sea Devils. In 2007 he was once again allocated to NFL Europe, this time to the Amsterdam Admirals. Prior to the start of the season he was injured and spent the entire year on IR.

Now that he's fully recovered, Hicks still has a dream to play in the NFL. After NFL Europe ceased operations he was looking for a new avenue to pursue that goal. When he was approached by Sharks Head Coach Mike Trigg about the prospect of playing for the Sharks in 2008, he jumped at it. "Jordan is a great find for us", said Trigg. "He's going to be an impact player this season".

The Sharks will spend the first two weeks of the regular season on the road before returning to the American Bank Center for the home opener against division rival Rio Grande on April 12th. Season tickets for the Sharks 2008 season are now on sale and start as low as $75. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sharks office at (361)882-9292.

For more information or to schedule interviews with any of the Sharks players or Head Coach Mike Trigg, please call Director of Broadcasting Scott Howe at (361)658-7916.
