Sharkey Leads Brewers to 7-3 Win
August 11, 2014 - Pioneer League (PL)
Helena Brewers News Release
The Helena Brewers (6-9) snapped a four-game losing streak on Sunday with a 7-3 win over the Ogden Raptors (8-6).
Zach Hirsch (1-1) had his best outing of the year for Helena, pitching five shutout innings in the start. Hirsch would allow just four hits and strike out three batters.
The Brewers struck first in the third and would never trail in the ballgame. Edgardo Rivera scored on an RBI single from Alan Sharkey to get the scoring started. Sharkey was 3-for-5 with a solo home run, his first of professional baseball, and three RBI. He is now on a team-high seven-game hitting streak.
The bulk of the scoring came in a four-run, five-hit fourth inning. Gregory Munoz had a 2-RBI double to highlight the frame.
The Raptors would try to make a late rally in the ninth, scoring a run and putting a man on second, but Ryan Deeter struck out Jimmy Allen to close out the night and pull the Brewers to within three games of first place in the Pioneer League North Division.
The Brewers now head back to Helena to host the Idaho Falls Chukars in a three-game series. First pitch on Tuesday from Kindrick Field is set for 7:05 p.m.
About the Brewers: The Helena Brewers are a minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Home games are played at Kindrick Legion Field in Helena from mid-June through early-September.
