Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Corpus Christi IceRays right wing Shane Bull has been named NAHL South Division Star of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for Week 1 (Sept. 9-15, 2019), the North American Hockey League announced Monday.
Bull, 20, recorded a hat trick, plus an assist, in his NAHL debut Friday night as the IceRays defeated the Topeka Pilots, 4-3, in overtime. He assisted on twin brother Noah's game-tying goal late in the third period, then Shane notched the game-winning goal at the 2:34 mark of overtime.
The following night, Bull notched the game's first marker, becoming the first player in the NAHL to reach four goals this season.
"Shane has stepped in and been everything we've needed from him and more," said IceRays head coach Al Rooney. "We've got a bunch of new faces here in Corpus and he obviously led the way for us and played liked the veteran we needed. Our staff couldn't be happier for him because he put the work in all through training camp, so it was great to see the work pay off for both him and his teammates. He still hasn't reached his ceiling yet either so we expect this just to be a start for him to bigger and better things."
The 6-foot, 220-pound forward played the last three-plus seasons with the OJHL's Whitby Fury in his hometown of Whitby, Ont., Canada.
Next up for the IceRays is the annual trip to the NAHL Showcase, playing four games in four days at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minn. The first game takes place Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8:00 PM CT against the St. Cloud Blizzard.
IceRays season ticket memberships are on sale now while single game tickets will go on sale later this month. The team's Home Opener is set for Thursday, Oct. 10 against the Odessa Jackalopes. Puck drop at American Bank Center is set for 7:05 PM CT. For tickets or more information, call 361-814-PUCK (7825).
