CHICAGO, IL January 2, 2007"" This Saturday, January 6, Chicago will get its first taste of indoor professional lacrosse action when the Chicago Shamrox start their inaugural season against the New York Titans at 7:30 p.m. at the Sears Centre arena in Hoffman Estates.Ã Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with pre-game festivities set for 7:00 p.m.
"Chicago Shamrox indoor professional lacrosse is ready to go, so let the games begin," said Conrad "Connie" Kowal, President of the Chicago Shamrox.Ã "The buildup, the anticipation is exciting and now our Shamrox history begins."
The Shamrox Head Coach/GM Jamie Batley has put together a roster of 23 players, a mixture of veterans, free agents, and rookies.
"We've had a terrific Training Camp and pre-season," said Batley.Ã "I like our team and we're going to give everything we got for our Chicago Shamrox fans."
The Shamrox are lead by veteran goaltender Brandon Miller, former NLL defender of the year Cam Woods, free agent forward Chris Panos, and #1 draft pick Josh Wasson.
The first ever game for the Shamrox will feature a spectacular pre-game indoor fireworks show and all fans entering the Sears Centre arena will receive Shamrox Rally Towels and Shamrox Glow Sticks.Ã The Shamrox will also honor Chicago's high school lacrosse boys and girls state champions and the Northwestern University women's lacrosse NCAA Back-to-Back champions and a "Tribute to Lacrosse America."Ã Following the game, fans are invited to make their way onto the field and collect autographs from players and Dance Team members.
