Shadow of Young and Stone suits Sanders just fine

Augusta Colts News Release

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Coming out from the shadows of the ever popular Anthony Young and Marvin Stone duo has been a tough one for Shaun Sanders, but with this season still in its early stages, Sanders has plenty of time to bring his talent into the light.

The "other" receiver for the Augusta Spartans, Sanders has five catches for 75 yards and one touchdown in two appearances at wide receiver as he makes the transition from defensive back.

The talent is there and is sure to manifest itself throughout the season.

"I bring talent on both sides of the ball, as a receiver, as a defensive back," said Sanders, "officially" a defensive back for the Augusta Spartans, "Playing the indoor games, it is especially good to play both sides of the ball."

Since he is able to play on either side of the ball, Sanders must make a choice, offense or defense.

"I don't really have a favorite because I think I can get in with both, but I prefer defensive back," said Sanders.

Sanders played three games for the Florence Phantoms in another indoor football league last season before coming over to the Spartans in 2006.

Two years of experience with Augusta Spartans three years total in the world of indoor football brings with it, knowledge that can help his team take it to the next level. "I am here to help the guys out," said Sanders. "Bringing three years of indoor football experience to the team. To go out and win, being a team player and just getting the job done." The total package comes to mind when it comes to Sanders. He can support the team with his experience, play for the team on either side and be successful at both, what more can you ask for in a player.

Shadow..what shadow? It looks like only blue skies in the future for Shaun Sanders.
