Sarasota Reds News Release

Sarasota, FL - According to the Florida State League office in Daytona Beach, the 2007 Florida State League All-Star teams have been announced for this year's game to be played in Daytona Beach on Saturday, June 16th at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The division-leading Sarasota Reds received seven all-star selections for the Western Division squad after the voting was completed by Florida State League managers, official scorers and media representatives from around the league. The seven players selected were the most by any team in either division of the Florida State League.

Leading the way was Outfielder Jay Bruce who was selected to his second professional All-Star Game in as many years. Bruce was named MVP of the Midwest League All-Star Game in 2006. This season, Bruce is in the top 10 in the Florida State League in virtually every offensive category and leads the league in extra base hits (30), slugging % (.590) and triples (5).

Infielder Mike Griffin was named to his second consecutive All-Star team, joining Bruce in the Midwest League Game last season. Griffin has been a consistent spark at the top of the Sarasota lineup, placing in the top 10 in at-bats (228), runs (35), and hits (64). Infielder Adam Rosales was selected to his first All-Star Game as a professional. Rosales anchors the league's top ranked offense from the clean-up position while leading the league in doubles (20) and placing in the top 10 in runs (39), extra base hits (27) and RBI (34).

Pitcher Logan Ondrusek has made a smooth transition into the starting rotation after beginning the season in the bullpen. Ondrusek is currently 4-2 with 1 save in 15 appearances (7 starts). Ondrusek ranks among the top 10 in the Florida State League in ERA (2.39) and WHIP (1.10). This is his first All-Star selection of his professional career.

Pitcher Josh Roenicke has also been selected to his first All-Star Game as a professional. Roenicke has successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities out of the Reds bullpen this season which leads the Florida State League. He is also tied for the most pitching appearances in the league with 22, and has 30 strikeouts in just 22 innings pitched.

Pitcher Carlos Fisher picked up right where he left off last year after a 12-5 season in Class-A Dayton of the Midwest League. He began the year 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA in seven starts with 41 strikeouts in 41 innings before his promotion to Double-A Chattanooga. Fisher was named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week on April 16.

Pitcher Richie Gardner is among the Florida State League leaders in Wins (5), ERA (1.65), and WHIP (0.86) with only 7 starts prior to getting called up to Double-A Chattanooga. This is Gardner's second time being named to an All-Star team in his professional career. He was selected to start the Carolina League vs. California League All-Star Game in 2004 with Potomac.
