Torrington Titans News Release

On Tuesday, a total of seven Torrington Titans made the trip to Lynn, Mass. to take part in the 4th annual FCBL All-Star festivities, which included a homerun derby and a scout day for prospects in attendance.

The seven Titans players included (from left in photo): Dean Lockery (CCSU), David Gerics (Pomona-Pitzer), Dan Schock (Sacred Heart), Frank Valentino (Suffolk County CC), Robbie Hitt (Quinnipiac), Alex Fishberg (Iona) and Cody Doyle (Sacred Heart).

David Gerics, who lost the final fan vote to Worcester's Logan Fullmer, threw in front of multiple major league scouts in the FCBL's scout day. Valentino and Fishberg joined him in front of those scouts to throw a short bullpen.

Dean Lockery, who was the commissioner's selection for the final All-Star spot, started the game at 2B and hit 6th for the West, while Cody Doyle started the game behind the plate and hit 8th. Lockery finished the game with two assists while Doyle played three inning, had one hit and an RBI. Pitcher Robbie Hitt was the first man out of the bullpen for the West All-Stars and pitched a solid second inning with Doyle still behind the plate. Hitt allowed one baserunner but stranded him with a strikeout and a pair of fly ball outs to end the inning. Outfielder Dan Schock came into the game in the 6th inning in RF, replacing Pittsfield's Ryan Olmo. Schock had one putout defensively, but went hitless at the plate.

The West team totaled five hits and three runs on the evening. The game came to an exciting conclusion in the bottom of the 9th inning as North Shore's Richie Fecteau delivered a walk-off single to win the game for the East, 4-3. Fecteau was named the game's MVP as North Shore swept the awards with Speros Varinos winning pitcher of the night and Giovanni Dingcong taking the HR Derby crown earlier in the night.

The Titans are back in action on Thursday night against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks on the road at 7:00 p.m.
