Chicago Bandits News Release

ROSEMONT - The Bandits kick off a seven-game road trip with three games against the Scrap Yard Dawgs in The Woodlands, Texas with first pitch in the series opener scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST.

This is the second meeting this year between the teams and the first in Texas. The Bandits (8-6) swept the Dawgs (7-7) in a three-game series to open the 2016 season.

The Bandits head to Texas after five straight games against the Akron Racers, going 3-2 in that span. Taylor Edwards continued her hot start at the plate, going 6-for-15 with two home runs, two triples, eight RBI and five walks against Akron.

In the first series against the Dawgs, Michelle Gascoigne and Lacey Waldrop picked up complete game wins in the circle and Morgan Foley got the win in game three during a combined effort with Sara Moulton and Shelby Turnier.

The offense was spurred by Jill Barrett and Sammy Marshall, who batted at the top and bottom of the order, respectively, in all three matchups. Barrett finished the series 6-for-10 with three runs and three walks and Sammy Marshall went 3-for-7 with five runs and three walks. Emily Allard also provided an offensive spark, finishing the series 4-for-10 with four runs and three RBI.

The Scrap Yard Dawgs are currently fourth in NPF, one game behind the Bandits and two behind the league-leading USSSA Pride. The Dawgs have the league's worst team batting average at .239, but the second-best team ERA, 3.28. Their top hitter this season, Nerissa Myers, is batting .375, which is behind the Bandits' Barrett (.415) and Allard (.412). Former Bandits pitcher turned Dawgs ace Monica Abbot (3-1) has the second best ERA in the league at 1.62 in four starts.

This is the first time the Bandits have traveled to play the Dawgs, who are in their inaugural season as a NPF franchise.
