Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release

Washington, PA - The Pennsylvania Rebellion and the USSSA Pride played in the second game of a three game set from CONSOL Energy Park. Good pitching and timely hitting proved to be the difference as the Rebellion defeated the Pride by a score of 3-1.

The Rebellion wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when they scratched across a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. First Baseman Alisa Goler lined a double to left centerfield and it plated the game's first run. A few batters later, Goler came around to score on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Left Fielder Lindsey Stephens. The runs snapped a two-game scoreless streak and it was 2-0 Pennsylvania.

The score would remain the same until the 4th inning when the Rebellion added to the lead. A leadoff laser home run by Catcher Kristyn Sandberg, her 3rd of the season, made it 3-0 Rebellion. For the importance insurance run that solidified the victory, Sandberg earned Powerhandz Player of the Game honors.

The Pride got on the board in the 6th inning with a RBI single from Left Fielder Hallie Wilson.

The Rebellion were led to victory in the circle by Pitcher Haylie Wagner. Wagner worked her way out of a few different jams on her way to the complete game victory. The bases were loaded with the potential tying run at second in the top of the 7th when Wagner got Pride First Baseman Gionna DiSalvatore to ground one right back to the circle for the final out of the ballgame.

Wagner finished the game allowing just one run, seven hits, and striking out five.

The PA Rebellion (7-10) and the USSSA Pride (7-3) are back at it tomorrow night for the rubber match of the series in Washington, PA. The action from Consol Energy Park starts at 7:05pm. If you cannot make the game, you can watch online on NPFTV at profastpitch.com.
