Johnstown Tomahawks News Release
JOHNSTOWN - The Aston Rebels used two second-period goals to defeat the Johnstown Tomahawks Saturday night at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
A back and forth first period yielded no goals but both the Tomahawks and Rebels generated scoring chances on their respective goalies.
The Rebels got on the board first in the latter part of the second period when Jerry Miettuten's point shot fluttered past the glove of Tomahawks goalie Ryan Glander.
One minute later, Dean Balsamo made the score 2-0 Aston with a one-time goal.
The Tomahawks fired shots at Rebels goaltender Trevor Micucci but he stood tall and denied the Tomahawks a goal throughout the period.
After the Tomahawks failed to convert on the power play, the Rebels would put the game away with an empty-net goal from Andrew Bellant.
Micucci stopped 19 Tomahawks shots en route to a 3-0 shutout win for the Rebels. Glander denied 22 of 25 Aston shots while picking up the loss.
The Tomahawks return to the Cambria County War Memorial Friday Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb 27 for a divisional series against the Rebels. For more information, call 814-536-GOAL or visit JohnstownTomahawks.com.
