SeaWolves Plate 10 in Opening Day Win

An Opening Day crowd of over 3,600 SeaWolves fans watched the home club take down the Altoona Curve 10-6 at Jerry Uht Park to start the season on a winning note.

Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, Wade Gaynor and Ramon Cabrera opened with back-to-back singles. After Curve starter Brandon Cumpton recorded the next two outs before Luis Castillo laced a two-run double giving the 'Wolves a 2-1 edge.

In the third, Altoona tied the game in the top half and the 'Wolves responded, regaining the lead in the bottom half. Daniel Fields led off with a single and Tyler Collins walked with one out to put a pair on base. Wade Gaynor singled through the left side and Fields scored for a 3-2 lead. Cabrera doubled home Collins to give Erie a 4-2 lead.

In the sixth, Erie would take a commanding lead, putting the game out of reach. Cabrera led off with an opposite-field double for his third hit of the game. James Robbins doubled home Cabrera with one-out for a 5-3 lead. The 'Wolves then loaded the bases with back-to-back walks by Castillo and Marcus Lemon off of reliever Nathan Baker. Fields belted a grand slam over the wall in right-center for a 9-4 advantage.

In the eighth, Hernan Perez doubled with one out and scored on a Gaynor single for a 10-4 lead.

Altoona plated two runs in the ninth inning before Robbie Weinhardt closed the door for the win.

Kyle Lobstein (1-0) earned the win allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts in his Erie debut
