Everett Silvertips News Release

Everett, WA - Greg Scott led the Seattle Thunderbirds scoring Friday night with two goals in their win over Everett 3-1. Dan Iwanski and Zack Dailey would add an assist each on Everett's only goal by Shane Harper. Harper's goal would be his 22nd goal of the year pushing his point total to 46. The loss is Everett's eight straight loss and Seattle's first win in Everett this season. The Thunderbirds now lead the season series, as Everett's record against Seattle moves to 3-4-0-0. Kent Simpson made 27 saves in a fine outing.

This brings the 'Tips record to 21-22-6-1 with 49 points in 50 games played taking them to sixth place in the Western Conference. Everett stands two points behind fifth place Kamloops Blazers and seven points behind fourth place Kelowna Rockets. The Silvertips are now 2-6-1-1 in their last 10 games. The Silvertips head down to Portland on Saturday night for a 7:05 start against the Winter Hawks.

Seattle's Scott opened up the scoring Friday night tallying his 18th goal of the season at 8 minutes 55 seconds. Scott took a Jonathan Parker pass at the blue line, skated hard to the Everett net and took a quick snap shot. The shot deflected off of Simpson's pad and found the back of the net to give the Thunderbirds the early 1-0 lead. Seattle continued to play tough and it paid off with Parker notching his 10th goal of the season. Erik Fleming made a great backhand pass from beyond the goal line feeding Parker in the slot for a quick snap shot beating Simpson high glove side at 15:46. Seattle outshot Everett 9-6 in the first period.

After a strong first half to the second period Everett's hard work finally had something to show when Shane Harper tallied his 22nd goal of the year at 7:27. A blocked shot in front of the Seattle net rebounded to the left of Jacob DeSerres where Harper speeded to the rebound and lifted the puck past the Seattle netminder to make the score 2-1. Seattle regained their fading momentum at 15:03 after a Scott shorthanded goal. Prab Rai drove hard into the Everett zone and found open ice to take the puck toward the right of Simpson's crease. Rai threw the puck toward a crowded Everett net and found Scott's stick for the tip and the 3-1 lead. Everett continued to be outshot; this period would give Seattle the 14-8 advantage in the second.

Everett played a strong third period generating scoring chances on 14 shots but DeSerres would shut the Silvertips down for the final 20 minutes of regulation to secure a 3-1 win for the Thunderbirds.
