Seattle Storm News Release
SEATTLE, May 13, 2010 - The Seattle Storm announced today that it will partner with KING 5 to broadcast Seattle Storm basketball during the 2010 season. Six games of the season will air on KONG TV and Universal Sports, beginning with the season opener vs. Los Angeles on May 16 on KONG TV at 6:00 PM.
"As the number one rated station in Western Washington, we are thrilled to be working with KING 5 to broadcast on KONG and Universal Sports," said Karen Bryant, Storm CEO. "We look forward to bringing the excitement of Storm basketball to the entire Puget Sound region."
"Our goal at KING 5 is to bring the stories of our community home and this is a wonderful opportunity to do just that," says Pat Costello, Vice President and Station Manager of KING Broadcasting. "Go Storm!"
The broadcast package includes marquee matchups against 2009 WNBA champions, Phoenix; Los Angeles, Minnesota and Tulsa.
Storm TV
Unique to franchise broadcast history, the Storm will spearhead all production and content management of the broadcasts. Led by Bill Kaczaraba, former vice president of content at FOX Sports Net Northwest and owner of First Team Media, Storm TV will allow the organization the opportunity to bring great basketball to the Northwest and expose fans to behind-the-scenes features showcasing the community depth of the franchise.
Dick Fain and Adia Barnes headline the Storm's broadcast team for both television and radio (Sandusky Radio's KKNW 1150 AM). Fain, a Seattle radio veteran who has also served as a Storm sideline reporter, play-by-play announcer and color analyst, will again handle the play-by-play duties. Barnes, a former Storm forward who played on the 2004 WNBA championship team, will provide color analysis.
The Seattle Storm begins their 11th season with back-to-back home televised games Sunday, May 16 vs. Los Angeles and Wednesday, May 19 vs. Minnesota.
