Sean Couturier Ranked #1 on NHL Central
November 16, 2010 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, November 16, 2010 - This morning, the National Hockey League unveiled their preliminary rankings for the next Entry Draft that will take place next June.
Without any surprise, Sean Couturier, already regarded as an excellent prospect by most experts, was ranked first for the QMJHL. The 17 year-old Drummondville Voltigeurs foward had his most productive season last year with a total of 96 points. Recognized for his incredible hockey vision, the 6'4'' center has good hands, a solid shot, an impeccable work ethic and shines under pressure.
Among the other players present on the list from the QMJHL, please also note the presence of the goaltender Christopher Gibson, from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, from whom the talent is being compared to Marc-André Fleury and Jonathan Bernier.
The 2011 NHL Entry Draft will take place next June in St. Paul, Minnesota, home of the Wild. QMJHL Central Scouting predicts that the 2011 NHL Entry Draft will represent a good draft class for the League, as explained by Central Scouting's Chris Bordeleau, which regularly covers the Q: "It's going to be a better year than the past couple [...]. We can't get too overly excited. I'm kind of prudent, because it's happened before. I don't want to get too excited too early, but the top 15 players out of the 'Q' are looking all decent."
