Florida Seals News Release

[KISSIMMEE, Fla.]- It wasn't the prettiest game of the year or the most well played for the Seals, but they escaped with a 5-4 overtime victory. It was the first time in five chances the Seals won at home in overtime.

Casey Handrahan took a perfect John Gurskis pass and put it into an open net at 2:42 of overtime to give the Seals their fourth win in a row. Gurskis made the play happen with great stick work throughout the offensive zone. After receiving a return pass from Steve Zoryk, Gurskis drew the Pee Dee defenders and goalie towards him. Gurskis found a wide open Handrahan at the bottom of the far circle where he deposited the puck to the back of the net.

Florida looked like they would run away with the game early in the contest. David Deeves scored 7:32 into the game to give the Seals the first goal. Craig Miller scored early in the second period opening up what seemed like a big two goal lead for Florida.

The Cyclones fought back when Geoff Rollins and Justin Siebold answered the call and tied it up after two periods. Siebold's goal came on the power play and squirted past Seals goalie Terry Denike just before the clock reached triple zeroes.

The third period became a see saw contest. Justin Keller scored to reclaim the lead for Florida at the 9:31 mark. Just 56-seconds later Joel Petkoff scored his first of two goals to put the teams back even. Florida's Dominick Dawes put a rebound past Pee Dee goalie Kevin Schieve with 1:15 remaining in regulation, giving what appeared to be a Seals victory. Instead, with the goalie pulled, Pee Dee's Petkoff rang off his second goal of the night with 38-seconds to go, forcing overtime.

The same two will battle Friday night at the Silver Spurs Arena. Friday will be the annual "NASCAR Night." The Silver Spurs Arena will have race cars and exotic cars placed throughout the building. In addition, the Seals will wear special race style jerseys to be auctioned off after the game.
