Florida Seals News Release

CELEBRATION, FL – At shortly after 1:00 PM on Saturday, hundreds of fans poured into the Silver Spurs Arena to see the Florida Seals new home. An estimated 1,000 plus people entered the arena between 1:00 and 4:00 PM to see the new facility and enjoy the Seals Open House Party.

Local citizens were invited to tour the building all access style as fans were given the opportunity to not only walk the hallways, concourses and public areas of the new arena - but to enjoy an interactive hockey theme park created by the Seals. Children were able to roller skate in the Seals new CoolAir arena, test their skills in the Seals slapshot booths, have their pictures taken in front of the Seals Zamboni, meet and get autographs from Seals players, and interact with several mascots in attendance including Thunderbug from the Tampa Bay Lightning. By all indications, everyone who entered the building walked away impressed.

The event kicked-off at 1:00 PM and the already large crowd, estimated at somewhere between 250 and 300 people, began their tour of the facility. By 4:00, it was estimated that another 700 or so fans had entered the doors to see the Seals new home. The Seals sold 134 new season tickets in just three hours as fans were able to select from available seats in the arena throughout the event.

"It was a truly great event," said Seals General Manager Chris LiPuma. "People that came by to speak with us today could not believe what a fine facility this is. Everyone is very excited to have professional hockey coming to this arena in 2005."

The Seals rose over $1,500 for Ronald McDonald Charities of Central Florida and the National Childhood Cancer Group with their "Hockey Fights Cancer" silent auction. Among the items auctioned during the event were an autographed Robert Luongo Florida Panthers jersey, an autographed Dennis Savard retirement program and banner, a pair of Disney World park hopper passes, a pair of Medieval Knights dinner show tickets, and a Seals replica game jersey.

Peggy Cacciabeve was announced as the winner of the Seals "Vacation Photo Contest" and awarded a Seals replica jersey and duffle bag. The lucky winners of a 5 Acre Texas Ranch and a pair of Seals season tickets courtesy of USALANDSALE.COM, the events title sponsor, will be announced later this week.

Seals season tickets are on sale now and available for as low as $25/month. For more information on Seals season tickets, corporate sponsorship opportunities, or other ways you can be a part of all the excitement as the Seals prepare for the 2005 season at the Silver Spurs Arena, contact the Seals office at (321) 939-2465.
