Victoria Seals News Release
St. George, UT - Closing out a quick series against the St. George RoadRunners, the Victoria Seals returned to Bruce Hurst Field for a double-header matchup on Saturday afternoon. Sending Andrew Arreola (5-5) to the mound for the start in game two, Victoria squared off against Jon Dutton (3-5) in the first game of the night.
With both pitchers starting strong out of the gate, it was the Seals first on the board in the top of the third inning. Arreola helped his own cause by notching a two-out single before Wilver Perez gave Victoria a 1-0 lead on an RBI double.
St. George responded by loading the bases in the bottom of the frame, using a single from Jason Dellaero, a two-out walk to Victor Buttler and an second-straight base on balls to C.J. Lang to set up a grand slam home run courtesy of Vosvany Almario and stake a 4-1 lead.
Adding to their lead in the fourth inning, the RoadRunners cashed their fifth run of the game on an RBI double off the bat of David Ramirez. Tacking on another set of runs in the bottom of the fifth, St. George took advantage of an error by Seals right fielder Colin Moro with the bases loaded to stretch their lead to 8-1 on home turf.
Despite a run-scoring single from Josh Arhart in the top of the sixth, Victoria was unable to muster a comeback against Dutton who wrapped up a seven-inning complete game performance with an 8-2 win over the Seals.
Dutton earned his fourth win of the year for St. George while Andrew Arreola fell to 5-5 with the loss for Victoria. Yosvany Almario's four runs batted in was enough to seal the win for the RoadRunners, while Wilver Perez and Josh Arhart collected the only two RBI's for the Seals.

Turning around for the third and final game of the series an hour later, the Seals turned to Anthony Pluta (3-2) while St. George sent Chuck Tiffany (0-0) to the mound for the start.
For a second consecutive game it was the Seals on the board first, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the second inning when a walk to Colin Moro set up a single from Brian Rios, an RBI double off the bat of Matt Kavanaugh and a sacrifice fly from Dale Swinford to put the visitors ahead 2-0.
Doubling their advantage in the third frame, Victoria moved ahead 4-0 with the help a two-run double courtesy of Tim Rodriguez after Wilver Perez drew a lead-off walk and Terrence McClain reached on an error.
After a lead-off home run from Casey Raisbeck put St. George on the board in the bottom of the inning, the Seals responded with their biggest frame of the night in the top of the fourth. That's when Kavanaugh led things off with a single before Swinford reached on an error to RoadRunners shortstop Jason Dellaero and Perez loaded the bases with a walk and McClain cleared the bags with a three-run double to put Victoria ahead 7-1.
Keeping the ball rolling in the top of the fifth, Kavanaugh collected his second RBI of the game with a base hit and Pluta contributed some offense of his own with a single into right centrefield to score Rios and push the Victoria lead to eight runs.
The Seals then rounded out their scoring in the top half of the sixth inning, making it an 11-1 ball game with the help of a run-scoring triple from Rodriguez and an RBI base hit delivered by Rios against St. George reliever Mitch Arnold.
Cashing in their second run of the game in the bottom of the seventh on a Seals fielding error by Rios, St. George got as close as they would come, leaving the bases loaded in the final frame of an 11-2 Victoria win.
Anthony Pluta turned the trick on the mound for the Seals, picking up a seven-inning complete game victory while Chuck Tiffany took the loss to fall to 0-1 for the RoadRunners. Three RBI's from both Terrence McClain and Tim Rodriguez helped Victoria salvage the series while Pluta held St. George to just five hits in the series finale.
The Seals now head to Southern California for a three-game set against the Orange County Flyers beginning Monday night. Game time is set for 3:05 p.m. (PT) and will not be covered on the Victoria Seals Broadcast Network. Fans can still tune into the game by tuning into Josh Feldman at www.orangecountyflyers.com.
